Are you a Resort Girl craving some authentic southern comfort food? Well, this RG does and, once a week does parks herself at Cahill’s Market to get some good old-fashioned low country cookin’. Cahill’s Market and Chicken Kitchen has been the best place in Bluffton, S.C. to get a hot plate of their famous fried chicken, home grown veggies and country pies for many years. It is truly a place where time turns back to the days of family farming. When dining there, country music echoes throughout, the nearby fresh river air breezes through the big screens, fans rotate and colorful tables await.
My weekly personal table top is filled with the day’s specialty Chicken Wagon meal – my southern comfort fix. Each meal comes with a meat plus three sides, with so many mouthwatering options to choose from, depending on the season and farm yields. The side choices include creamed corn, stewed cabbage, okra n’ tomatoes, collards, field peas, avocado bean salad and many more. The day’s meat offerings can range from chicken (grilled for fried), livers and gizzards—to pork chops, turkey and meatloaf. And, don’t miss the chance to top off your meal with some homemade South Carolina peach cobbler.
Thursday has become one of my favorite dining days as I enjoy the baked turkey special and I always have my favorite side, Cahill’s gooey mac and cheese. If you desire a lighter meal, you can choose their Carolina salad or grilled chicken Caesar wrap.
It’s also a great place to take that special Resort Guy and watch his eyes light up when seeing the hearty dishes, such as the all-you-can-eat fried chicken or three meal daily special!
You can enjoy the Cahill’s experience from the comfort of your own home as well, as you can pick up some of their home grown veggies, jarred southern sauces, true grits, on your way out – you can even purchase blossoming flowers and fresh herbs from Cahill’s greenhouses.
Johnny, Debra and Mike make this a great place to feel welcomed and well-fed. Make Cahill’s Market and Chicken Kitchen a RG stop… as they give you their pick of the crop! Find out the Chicken Kitchen and Market hours at http://cahillsmarket.com/.
